Mikhail Kolosov

Kolosov, Mikhail Nikolaevich

 

Born May 11, 1927, in Kursk. Soviet organic chemist. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1974; corresponding member, 1966). Member of the CPSU since 1963. Student of M. M. Shemiakin.

Kolosov graduated from the M. V. Lomonosov Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology in 1948. From 1951 to 1959 he worked at the Institute of Biological and Medical Chemistry of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR. In 1959 he began working at the Institute of the Chemistry of Natural Compounds of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. His principal works are on fine organic synthesis and the chemistry of antibiotics and other natural compounds.
