Nagykőrös

(nŏ`dyəkö`rösh), town (1991 est. pop. 26,947), central Hungary. It is the center of a grain and fruit-growing region and has an old Reformed church, a college, and a town hall. The poet John Arany was born in Nagykőrös.

a city in central Hungary, located in Pest megyék. Population, 25,800 (1970). It is a center for wine growing and fruit and vegetable raising in the region between the Danube and Tisza Rivers. Fruit and vegetable canneries, tobacco enterprises, and wineries are located in the city.
