Leninakan Plateau
a volcanic plateau in the western part of the Armenian Highland, in the Armenian SSR, on the border with Turkey, between the Aragats massif and the Akhurian River and the western edge of the Pambak Range. Average elevation, 1,500–1,600 m. The plateau is composed of Miocene and Pliocene lavas, tuffs, tuff breccias, sand, clay, and loam. It has mountain steppe landscapes with mountain chernozems, calcareous and typical soils, and grass-and-forb and grass associations. Agriculture is represented by grain farming and by vegetable raising on irrigated lands.
