Klychev, Anna-Mukhamed

Born May 10, 1912, in the aul (village) of Karagel’, now in the city limits of Cheleken in the Turkmen SSR. Soviet statesman. Member of the CPSU since 1947. Son of a fisherman.

Klychev graduated from the Higher Party School of the Central Committee of the CPSU in 1955. From 1934 to 1941 he was in charge of the port on the island of Cheleken. A participant in the Great Patriotic War, he was in the Soviet Army from 1941 to 1945. From 1945 to 1951 he was engaged in economic work in Turkmenia. He served as chairman of the Krasnovodsk city executive committee from 1951 to 1953, first secretary of the Cheleken city committee of the Communist Party of Turkmenistan from 1955 to 1957, first secretary of the Nebit-Dag city committee of the CP of Turkmenistan from 1957 to 1960, and chairman of the Ashkhabad city executive committee from 1960 to 1963. Since 1963 he has been chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Turkmen SSR, and in 1966 he became deputy chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He was elected a member of the Central Auditing Commission of the CPSU at the Twenty-third (1966) and Twenty-fourth (1971) Party Congresses. He was a deputy to the seventh through ninth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. Klychev has been awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and various medals.
