Mikhailov, Viktor Pavlovich

 

Born Nov. 11 (24), 1907, in Moscow. Soviet boxer. Honored Master of Sport (1936). Honored Coach of the USSR (1957). Member of the CPSU since 1940.

Between 1927 and 1939, Mikhailov was light heavyweight boxing champion of the USSR, absolute champion of the USSR (1939), and winner of the World Workers’ Olympics in Antwerp (1937). Mikhailov fought in in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–45. From 1946 to 1957 he was coach of the USSR boxing team and from 1946 to 1972 an instructor at the State Central Institute of Physical Culture in Moscow. Mikhailov has been awarded two orders and a number of medals.
