Bolduman, Mikhail Panteleimonovich

Born July 11 (23), 1898, in Zhmerinka. Soviet Russian actor. People’s Artist of the USSR (1965).

Bolduman began his stage career in 1923. From 1924 to 1931 he worked in the Kiev Theater of Russian Drama, and from 1931 to 1933 he worked in the Moscow Dramatic Theater (formerly the Korsh Theater). Since 1933 he has been an actor in the Moscow Art Academic Theater.

Bolduman created a series of images of positive soviet heroes: Platón Krechet (in Korneichuk’s play of that name), Maiorov (in Kron’s Deep Reconaissance), and Gorbunov (in Kron’s Officer of the Fleet). His roles in the classic repertoire included Sintsov (in Gorky’s The Enemies), Boris Godunov (in A. K. Tolstoy’s Tsar Fedor Ioannovich), Vershinin (in Chekhov’s The Three Sisters), Shamraev (in Chekhov’s The Seagull), and King Leontes (in Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale). He was awarded the State Prize of the USSR twice in 1946 andonee in 1950. He received the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Badge of Honor, and various medals.
