Mikhail Spiridonovich Gvozdev

Years of birth and death unknown. Russian geodesist and explorer of the first half of the 18th century.

Gvozdev studied at the Moscow Navigation School in 1716 and the Naval Academy in 1719. In 1732 he completed a voyage to the shores of Bering Strait on the boat Sv. Gavriil under the command of I. Fedorov. Parts of the Asiatic and American coastlines along the strait between Asia and America were charted during this voyage.
