lenticular 3D

A type of glasses-free 3D (autostereoscopic) technology that separates the image into left and right frames and uses a convex "lenticular" lens to direct the eyes appropriately. The left and right frames appear as columns of left and right pixels or blocks of left and right pixels for multi-view images.

Having evolved from lenticular printing methods that create the illusion of depth on printed matter, a layer of lenticular lenses in front of an LCD display screen is used to direct the stereo frames to the appropriate eyes. This technique is also used for large screens in retail stores and shopping malls that create a more eye-popping display than 2D signage.
