Lenz, Sidney (Samuel)

(1873–1960) games expert; born in Chicago. A prosperous lumberman who retired at age 31, he won an unmatched 1,100 whist prizes, innumerable table-tennis tournaments, and the first national auction-bridge title, and was considered the country's best amateur magician. His first book, Lenz on Bridge (1926), was a best-seller.
