Established: Authorized on October 26, 1974.
Location:One-half mile north of Stanton, North Dakota, and 60 miles north of Bismarck; accessible via US 83 and ND 200A.
Facilities:Picnic area, rest rooms (é), visitor center (é), museum/exhibit, self-guided tour/trail.
Activities:Hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing, self-guided tours, educational programs, cultural workshops.
Special Features:Park preserves historic and archeological remnants of the culture and agricultural lifestyle of the Northern Plains Indians. More than 50 archeological sites suggest a possible 8,000 year span of inhabitation, ending with five centuries of Hidatsa earthlodge village occupation.
