Mikuláš z Husi

Born circa 1370; died Dec. 24, 1420, in Prague. Figure in the Hussite revolutionary movement; a leader of the Taborites.

The name of Mukulaš z Husi first appears in documents in 1389. In 1406 he was the royal representative in the fortress of Husi, in southern Bohemia. He was one of the chief organizers of the “departure into the hills” and took part in the founding of Tabor, where he was elected the first of four hetmans. He sharply attacked the policy of compromise advocated by the Čašniks and moderate Taborites. He died the victim of an accident.
