Leonid Agakov
Agakov, Leonid Iakovlevich
Born Apr. 18, 1910, in the village of Kanash, in the present-day Iadrinskii Raion, Chuvash ASSR. Chuvash Soviet writer. Member of the CPSU since 1943.
Agakov graduated from the State Institute of Theatrical Arts in 1935. He is the author of sketches and short stories, including “The Forest Brigade” and “The Last Fairy Tale”; the plays Deceit (1931) and Power (1932); and the novella Once in the Spring (1939), about the revolutionary transformation of a Chuvash village. He has also written collections of military and satiric short stories— Boys at the Front (1943), I Want to Laugh (1955), and Goats (1959)—and the novellas Partisan Murat (1943) and The Gold Chain (1945). He has received two orders.
