Manono

a town in the Republic of Zaire, in the northern part of Shaba (formerly Katanga) Province. It is linked by railroad with the landing of Muyumba on the Lualaba River. It has an airport. Manono is an important center of tin mining and smelting. It has food-processing industry. The town receives electrical energy from the Piana-Mwanga Hydroelectric Power Plant, which is located on the Luvua River.
