Location:About 25 air-miles west of Kalispell, Montana.
Facilities:In planning and development stages.
Activities:Wildlife observation, environmental study.
Special Features:Prior to acquisition, refuge lands were privately owned and operated as a cattle and horse ranch, dating back to the late 1800s. Indian pictographs are located on rock faces near the interior of the refuge.
Habitats: 7,885 acres of mountain drainage consisting of wet meadows, prairie grasslands, and wooded slopes.
Access: Limited; call refuge office.
Wild life: Grebes, herons, gulls, killdeer, sandhill cranes, harriers, hawks, owls, lynx, wolverine, bobcat, grizzly bear (threatened), gray wolf (endangered), elk and moose.
