Aino disease Aino disease A condition which causes an asymptomatic infection in adult ruminants—e.g., cattle, sheep, goats, buffalo, and wild ruminants—which, when it passes to the placenta, results in foetal deformity or death, including stillbirth, prematurity, arthrogryposis, scoliosis, sunken eyes, cataracts, maxillary retraction and dental irregularities. Surviving calves may have difficulty suckling or standing, or neurologic signs including ataxia, torticollis, tetany, paresis, swimming movements, opisthotonus and circular walking. |
