Lothrop, S. K.

Lothrop, S. K. (Samuel Kirkland)

(1892–1965) anthropologist, archaeologist; born in Milton, Mass. He was a Harvard-trained curator of Andean archaeology at the Peabody Museum. After 1915 he conducted extensive fieldwork, notably in Tierra del Fuego, Guatemala, and Mexico. His books include Coclé (1937, 1941), Chichén Itzá (coauthored, 1951), and Pre-Columbian Art (1957).
