Ondozero

Ondozero

 

a lake in the central Karelian ASSR. It has an area of 182 sq km. Its average depth is 3.3 m, and maximum depth, 8 m. The shoreline is extremely indented. The Onda River, whose flow is regulated by a timber-flotation dam at its source, passes through Ondozero. The lake is fed primarily by snow. The water level fluctuates within 2.1 m. Highest levels occur in June, and the lowest, in April or October. Timber is floated through Ondozero.
