As defined by the Medical Defence Union, the leading carrier for medical indemnity insurance in the UK, one claim is:(i) all claims by one or more claimants arising from any one course of related treatment;
(ii) a claim arising from any one course of related treatment;
(iii) all claims by one or more claimants arising from the provision of clinical services to a woman or her unborn or newly born child or children;
(iv) all claims by one or more claimants arising from one alleged error or omission, or any one series of common errors (as in errors in common) or omission in the provision of clinical services.
