Manturovo

a city (a settlement until 1958) in Kostroma Oblast, RSFSR. Located on the right bank of the Unzha River (a tributary of the Volga) 261 km northeast of the city of Kostroma. Manturovo has a railroad station on the Bui-Kotel’nich line. Population, 22,000 (1970). Manturovo has timber-cutting and wood-processing industries, including a plywood plant and a lumber mill. There is a mechanized foundry, as well as repair shops for tractors used in logging. In 1973 a hydrolysis plant was under construction.
