Lotuko


Lotuko

 

(self-designation Otukso), a people living in southern Sudan, near the city of Juba and between the White Nile and Pibor rivers. The population, including the related Logir, Dongotono, Loruama, and Lokoiya, is about 200,000 (1967, estimate). The Lotuko language is a Nilotic language. The Lotuko maintain their traditional religious beliefs (nature and ancestor worship). Their chief occupation is livestock raising, supplemented by hoe farming, hunting, and fishing.
