Mukhammas
Mukhammas
a strophic form in Middle Eastern and Middle Asian poetry. Each stanza consists of five lines, of which the first three are written by the author of the mukhammas, while the last two are a quotation from some other poem. The mukhammas is a kind of poetic commentary or interpretation of the poem on which it is based. In some literatures, the mukhammas can be an independent work, usually pessimistic in tone.
