Muksu

Muksu

 

a river in the northwestern Pamir Mountains, in the Tadzhik SSR, the left branch of the Surkhob River, known locally as the Vakhsh River. The Muksu is 88 km long and drains an area of 7,070 sq km. The river is formed by the confluence of the Sel’dara and Sauksai (Saukdara) rivers, which originate in the Fedchenko and Saukdara glaciers. The Muksu is fed by glaciers and snow; high water occurs in late May and lasts until early October. The mean flow rate is approximately 100 cu m per sec.
