biperiden

 [bi-per´ĭ-den] a synthetic anticholinergic used as an antidyskinetic to reduce the tremors of parkinsonism and for the treatment of drug-induced extrapyramidal reactions; administered orally as the hydrochloride salt and intramuscularly or intravenously as the lactate salt. Side effects are minor and include dryness of the mouth, blurring of vision, drowsiness, and nausea. Biperiden is contraindicated in patients with epilepsy and should be given with great care to patients with glaucoma.
