MEDLARS II

MEDLARS II

Medical Literature & Analysis Retrieval System II. A high-performance biomedical information retrieval system created by the US National Library of Medicine (NLM) in 1975 from MEDLARS. MEDLARS II was a computer-oriented bibliographic retrieval and publication system, which included the innovative phototypesetter GRACE and AIM-TWX, the experimental online bibliographic retrieval system. MEDLARS II laid the groundwork in the early 1980s for a new computerised system that would eventually become NLM's Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE).
