knowledge base[′näl·ij ‚bās] (computer science) A collection of facts, assumptions, beliefs, and heuristics that are used in combination with a database to achieve desired results, such as a diagnosis, an interpretation, or a solution to a problem. knowledge base (artificial intelligence)A collection of knowledgeexpressed using some formal knowledge representationlanguage.
