Oppenheimer, Jane M.

Oppenheimer, Jane M. (Marlow)

(1911– ) developmental zoologist; born in Philadelphia. She held fellowships at Yale (1935–36), the American Association of University Women's Berliner (1936–37), and at the University of Rochester (1937–38) before joining the faculty of Bryn Mawr College (1942–80). She made major contributions to studies of developmental biology and experimental embryology of teleost (bony) fishes, and wrote essays and books on the history of embryology.
