Location:15 miles east of Tallahassee, off US 90 on Sunray Road South.
Facilities:Boardwalk leading to the park's tallest mound (é), hiking trails, picnic tables. Visitor Center is planned.
Activities:Hiking, wildlife viewing, picnicking; guided tours available with two weeks notice.
Special Features:Part of an archeological complex that extends beyond thepark's boundaries, the Letchworth Mounds include a small burial moundrecorded in 1972 as well as a larger mound complex recorded five yearslater. Florida's tallest Native American ceremonial mound, which is 46feet tall, is located here. It's believed that the people who built themound were members of the Weedon Island Culture, a group of NativeAmericans who lived in North Florida between 200 and 800 AD.
