Na Literaturnom Postu

Na Literaturnom Postu

(On Literary Guard), a Soviet journal published in Moscow between 1926 and 1932. Prior to 1931, as the theoretical journal of RAPP (Russian Association of Proletarian Writers), it was published twice a month. In 1931 it became a general journal of literary criticism for workers belonging to literary circles and was issued three times monthly.

The forerunner of Na literaturnom postu was the journal Na postu (On Guard), published from 1923 to 1925. Na literaturnom postu condemned the nihilistic attitude of its predecessors, the “on guardists,” toward the classics and toward nonproletarian writers—the “fellow travelers.” Na literaturnom postu based its program on the June 18, 1925, resolution of the Central Committee of the RCP (Bolshevik) entitled On the Party’s Policy in the Field of Literature, but it carried out the resolution inconsistently, sometimes tending toward vulgar sociologism. When RAPP was abolished, the journal ceased publication.
