Nallamalla

Nallamalla

mountains in southeastern India, within the Eastern Ghats. They consist of two echelon-like ranges, which are sometimes regarded as independent orographic units—Velikonda, rising to 1,105 m, and Nallamalla proper, with a maximum elevation of 917 m. The mountains stretch for more than 300 km from north to south. The Nallamalla are block massifs composed primarily of gneiss and granite, with flat summits. They are dissected by the valleys of the rivers of the Krishna and Penner basins. Sparse monsoon forests and shrub thickets cover the slopes.
