MAP1B A gene on chromosome 5q13 that encodes a protein belonging to the microtubule-associated protein family, which are involved in microtubule assembly, an essential step in neurogenesis. The MAP1B protein product is a precursor polypeptide, which is thought to undergo proteolytic processing to yield a MAP1B heavy chain and LC1 light chain.
