MAP3K1

MAP3K1

A gene on chromosome 5q11.2 that encodes a MAPK kinase kinase belonging to the signal transduction cascades. MAP3K1 regulates the ERK and JNK kinase pathways, as well as the NF-kappaB pathway. MAP3K1 is activated by autophosphorylation.
Each mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway is a conserved cascade of three protein kinases: an activated MAPK kinase kinase (MAPKKK) phosphorylates and activates a specific MAPK kinase (MAPKK), which in turn activates a specific MAPK.
