Military Publishing House

(Voennoe izdatel’stvo) of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR. It publishes scientific military, technical military, and political military literature and fiction for the training and education of armed forces personnel. It was organized in 1919 under the name Literary Publishing House of the Political Directorate of the Revolutionary Military Council; in 1924 it became the State Military Publishing House; and from 1936 to 1946 it was the Military Publishing House of the People’s Commissariat for Defense of the USSR.
