(until 1956, the settlement of Otradnoe), a city under oblast jurisdiction in Kuibyshev Oblast, RSFSR. Railroad station (Novootradnaia) on the Kuibyshev-Ufa line. Population, 46,000 (1974). The growth of Otradnyi is connected with the development, beginning in 1952, of the Mukhanovo Oil Fields. In addition to gas refining plants, Otradnyi has plants that produce polymeric construction materials and reinforced-concrete items. It also has a machine-repair enterprise, a meat-processing plant, and a brickyard. The evening general engineering department of the Kuibyshev Polytechnic Institute and a petroleum industry technicum are in Otradnyi.
