单词 | bauman, zygmunt |
释义 | Bauman, ZygmuntBauman, Zygmunt(1925-) British-based, Polish-born sociologist whose recent prolific writings in social theory have attracted wide attention. His best known work has been on modernity and postmodernity (including Modernity and the Holocaust, 1989, and Life in Fragments, 1995) and on INTELLECTUALS (Legislators and Interpreters, 1987). Although aware of the cultures of control associated with modernity, Bauman sees an openness, and with this the possibility of renewed moralities, arising from the discursive culture of MODERNITY/POSTMODERNITY and POSTMODERNISM. See also GENOCIDE. |
