a city (a settlement until 1944), the center of Kobuleti Raion, Adzhar ASSR, an autonomous republic within the Georgian SSR. Located on the shore of the Black Sea and a station 21 km northeast of Batumi on the Samtredia-Batumi railroad line. Population, 18,000 (1970).

Kobuleti is a seacoast health resort with excellent sandy beaches. There is bathing in the sea from May to October. The city has facilities for the treatment of diseases of the respiratory organs of a nontubercular character, some cardiovascular diseases, and functional disorders of the nervous system. There are sanatoriums, bathhouses, houses of rest, boarding houses, and tourist centers in the city. Kobuleti has a factory for processing citrus and other fruits, a cannery, a tea factory, and a knitwear factory. There is also a sovkhoz for the cultivation of medicinal plants.
