In the east it abuts the Zangezur Range. The Aiotsdzorskii Range is 70 km long, with elevations up to 3,120 m (Mount Gogi). The western part is composed of Paleozoic and Mesozoic sedimentary rock (limestones, sandstones, quartzites, schists, and others); the eastern part, of Paleogene sedimentary and volcanic deposits and Neogene lavas. Mountain-steppe and mountain-meadow landscapes prevail.
