Kodachrome Basin State Park
Location:9 miles south of State Route 12 near Cannonville.
Facilities:24 campsites, group camp, cabins, shower, modern restrooms (é), concessions, picnic areas, bike trails, bridle trails, hiking trails, visitor center, museum.
Activities:Camping, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding.
Special Features:Geologists believe the park was once similar to Yellowstone, with hot springs and geysers, which eventually filled up with sediment and solidified. Through time, the Entrada sandstone surrounding the solidified geysers eroded, leaving large sand pipes; 67, ranging from two to 52 meters have been identified in the park.
