Kodry

Kodry

an upland in the Moldavian SSR, between the Reut (Dnestr basin) and Prut rivers. Altitude, to 430 m; length, 100 km. It is composed of marine and continental Miocene deposits —clay, marl, limestone, sand, and sandstone—and Quaternary loess. The upland has an erosion topography; the surface is deeply dissected by river valleys, gorges, and ravines. Landslides occur frequently, and in places there is karst. The Kodry is covered with forests, including oak, beech, and hornbeam. At the foot of the upland are fields and vineyards.
