Ko-ho

K’o-ho

a group of Paleolithic remains in northern China on the banks of the Huang Ho (in southwestern Shansi Province). K’o-ho was investigated in 1960 under the direction of Chia Lan-p’o. The site revealed the bones of fossil animals of the beginning of the Middle Pleistocene (stegodont, elephant), and Lower Paleolithic articles made of quartzite: primitive cores, flakes, several crude tools (choppers, scrapers, round projectiles, and an implement resembling a coup de poing). K’o-ho dates to the beginning of the Lower Paleolithic and chronologically immediately precedes the Tingts’un site.
