Kokchetav Lakes
a group of lakes in the northeastern part of the Kazakh melkosopochnik (area of low, rounded, isolated hills), or the Kokchetav elevation. Absolute elevation, 200–500m.
The best known of the Kokchetav lakes are Borovoe, Shchuch’e, Zerenda, Aidabul, and Bol’shoe and Maloe Chebach’e. Maibalyk, Balpashsor, and other lakes are known for their curative properties. The lakes are fed by snow waters; the level and area of the lakes are variable. The resort of Borovoe (now Shchuchinskii) is located on the isthmus between Lakes Borovoe and Bol’shoe Chebach’e.
