Kok-Iangak

 

a city (since 1943) in Osh Oblast, Kirghiz SSR; situated in the spurs of the Fergana Range at an altitude of 1,500 m. Kok-Iangak is the terminus on the railroad branch line from Andizhan. Population, 16,000 (1970). It came into being in 1910 in connection with the working of a coal deposit. Coal is mined there, and a garment factory is located in the city. Kok-Iangak has a branch of the Kyzyl-Kiia Mining Technicum.
