Miller, David Hunter

(1875–1961) lawyer, diplomat; born in New York City. A prominent New York lawyer, he commenced his long association with the U.S. State Department as a special assistant (1917–19). He was an adviser to the U.S. delegation to the Paris Peace Conference (1919), and, with Cecil J. B. Hurst, he wrote the final draft of the Covenant of the League of Nations. He was an editor of treaties (1924–44) and a historical adviser to the State Department (1931–38).
