(le-vā'tŏr pal-pē'brē sū-pēr-ē-ō'ris mŭs'ĕl) Origin, orbital surface of the lesser wing of the sphenoid, above and anterior to the optic canal; insertion, skin of eyelid, tarsal plate, and orbital walls, by medial and lateral expansions of the aponeurosis of insertion; action, raises the upper eyelid; nerve supply, oculomotor.
