Konopatov, Aleksandr Dmitrievich

Born Mar. 10, 1922, in the village of Kievskoe, Krasnodar Krai. Soviet scientist in the physics and technology of power generation. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1976); Hero of Socialist Labor (1966). Member of the CPSU since 1952.

After graduating from the Moscow Institute of Aviation Technology in 1945, Konopatov carried out scientific research. His main works deal with problems of gas dynamics, the stability of operation of power plants, and the reliability, efficiency, and lifetime of power plants.

Konopatov was a deputy to the seventh through ninth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR. He received the State Prize of the USSR in 1970 and the Lenin Prize in 1976. He has been awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, and various medals.
