Adie's syndrome

[a´dēz] a syndrome consisting of a pathologic pupil reaction (pupil" >Adie's pupil) whose most important element is myotonia on accommodation; the affected pupil contracts to near vision more slowly than does the opposite one, and also dilates more slowly. The affected pupil does not usually react to light (direct or indirect), but it may do so in an abnormal fashion. Certain tendon reflexes are absent or diminished, but there are no motor or sensory disturbances or other demonstrable changes indicative of disease of the nervous system.
