Natsagdorzh, Shagdarzhavyn

 

Born Sept. 19, 1918, in Ulan Bator. Mongolian historian. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Mongolian People’s Republic (1961). Member of the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party since 1944.

Natsagdorzh has studied the subject of feudalism, as well as the modern and contemporary history of Mongolia. From 1935 to 1961 he headed the history section of the Committee of Sciences of the Mongolian People’s Republic. Since 1942 he has taught at the Mongolian State University, and in 1961 he was appointed director of the History Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Mongolian People’s Republic. Since 1959 he has served as editor in chief of the history series Monumenta historica. He is one of the authors and editors of the three-volume history of the Mongolian People’s Republic and one of the authors of The History of the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party. Since 1959 he has been the president of the National Association of Historians of the Mongolian People’s Republic.
