Katushev, Konstantin Fedorovich

 

Born Oct. 1, 1927, in the village of Bol’shoe Boldino, Gorky Oblast. Soviet statesman and party leader. Member of the CPSU since 1952.

The son of an office worker, Katushev graduated from the A. A. Zhdanov Polytechnic Institute in 1951. Since 1951 he has worked successively as designer, senior designer, head designer, and deputy chief designer of the Gorky Automotive Plant. He has been active in party work in Gorky since 1957. From 1963 to 1965 he served as first secretary of the Gorky Municipal Committee of the CPSU, becoming first secretary of the Gorky Oblast Committee of the CPSU in 1965.

Since April 1968, Katushev has been a secretary of the CentralCommittee of the CPSU. He was a delegate to the Twenty-second, Twenty-third, and Twenty-fourth Party Congresses, andat the Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth Congresses he waselected a member of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Katu-shev also served as a deputy to the seventh, eighth, and ninthconvocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He has beenawarded the Order of Lenin.
