Miller, J. Irwin Miller, J. (Joseph) Irwin(1909– ) automotive manufacturing executive; born in Columbus, Ind. In a 43-year career with the multinational diesel manufacturer, Cummins Engine Company (Columbus, Ind.), he was president (1947–51) and chairman (1951–77). Through the company's foundation, he sponsored designs by distinguished architects for many of the public buildings that make Columbus a mecca for students of modern architecture. |
