Konstantin Kharnskii

Kharnskii, Konstantin Andreevich

 

Born May 30 (June 11), 1884, in Kalvarija, Lithuania; died 1943. Soviet historian. Member of the CPSU from 1920.

During the Civil War of 1918–20, Kharnskii engaged in underground work in the Far East. In 1923 he began teaching East Asian history in the faculty of Oriental studies of Far East University in Vladivostok. Kharnskii wrote the first Marxist works on the history of Japan, China, and Korea.
