Levine, Stephen

(1937– ) writer/publisher on psychology and spirituality; born in Albany, N.Y. He attended the University of Miami (Fla.) and worked as a journalist before founding Unity Press in San Francisco (1965). He collaborated with psychologist Richard Alpert (Ram Dass) and psychiatrist Elisabeth Kuebler-Ross on work with the sick and dying and their families, using meditative techniques to alleviate pain and grief. His own writings include A Resonance of Hope (1959) and Healers on Healing (1990).
